We have a letter from the Foreign Office stating that they have consulted the Colonial office on an arrangement whereby the Chief Justice of Hongkong should proceed to Shanghai twice a year to act as member of the Court of Appeal for China, remuneration which they propose is a yearly non- pensionable allowance of £250 together with actual travelling expenses and subsistence allowance of 15 dollars a day. This is based upon an assumption of
two anmal Sessions each of 24 working days,
